Greater LA is home to over 10 million people but its geography is such that you have reasonably easy access to some beautiful mountain areas from the Santa Monica Mountains just north west to the San Gabriel and San Bernardino just east and even the Santa Ana mountains tucked away between Riverside and Orange County. So despite 10 million people you can find almost bucolic locations to hike in and of course perform SOTA magic.
Greater LA has many SOTA peaks within 1-2hr drive including many 6 and 8 pointers
Here are some recommendations and remember, when planning an activation go prepared with maps, ample food and water and whatever you need to be safe. Getting to the peak is a goal but getting home safely is the number one goal.
